Hey kids! I'm the local cynic for Broken Doll Studios (and sadly also their editor)

I'm 25, been working with BDS since 1999... still haven't seen a dime so I also do freelance graphic design work and work management at the UPS Dallas Hub. It's more fun than a boy should hope for.

Interesting tidbits about me.. I have a forked tongue and webbed feet. And that's all you're getting out of me. But tell us a bit about yourselves and get to know one another. I'm gonna talk to Ashe about setting up a section of this thing for organizing gaming groups. That's right.. get off your damned computers and be social!

...unlike the rest of my crew

Hello Felix. You can call me Solarious, and I'm also a cynic. Nice to meet you.

I suppose this is where I'm supposed to tell a few things about myself? Well... you can thank Endling (that's Shaun Healey to you) for letting me know about this emerging system. He hooked and reeled me in with his depiction of a Razor (http://www.deviantart.com/view/26684108/). Call me the first of many Razor fans.

So. Whom else may we share our pointless lives with?

Shaun's artwork makes me happy in pants...

Great to have ya, Solar =) The site's been up all of a day, so you'll get to share yourself with hopefully many Razor fans to come! Also avatar fans, ethromancer fans, a few things I'm not at liberty to reveal yet... and most importantly...

Our fellow late night gamers who are too socially awkward to approach members of the opposite sex outside of game.

Strike that... I meant totally cool super dudes and dudettes who rock the dice like crazy mofos...

Christopher Ashe (or GHosT)

I made all this up pretty much, been working on various incarnations of Seven13 since i was 12...i'm 26 now. I've eaten. slept and breathed tabletop roleplay for most of my life. Nothing like it.

When I'm not working lately i'm either with the kids (i have a 6yr old son and a 4yr old daughter) or on WoW (Wildhammer server if any of you play).

Right now between working on the book and all of this I'm cooking up the next couple of supplement ideas. If you fancy a sneak peak one is an expansion on all of the powers systes in CoE (Avatar, Raze and Ethromancy) which will include new methods of casting as well as a new branch, and a book that details the races in the game.

Other than that I'm cooking up stuff for our campaign and currently listening to the Pixies.

Like Christopher, I've roleplayed all my life, my guess would be since I was 7. Starting with Dungeons and Dragons, and later World of Darkness. Lately, I've been active on .hack//Divergence, an online form roleplaying game.

Coincidentally, that same picture of the Razor introduced me to S13, and for the past few weeks, I've been almost obsessed with the little bit of information there was until yesterday.

Now you're being just plain cruel. You've got all these little fishing hooks implanted under our skins with not even the Core book out, and then you gentle tug at them with this taunting half-whisper of supplements!

Should we start a fanclub?

That would be an interesting idea... though if going from the pictures says anything about how kickass the races are, then I have to lean half towards the Defilers because of this picture (http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/26224712/).

I'm still looking forward to the Razors though... definitely.

It goes both ways actually. The gods you read about in Chapter 1 have been with me longer than the concept of the Cycle of Existence has...it's been debated by some which came first ;) also...there's a chharacter in the metaplot who's become such an incarnation that Felix and Church actually called me up to wish her a happy birthday.

When I look at a pencil I see an open door. ;)

Now you're being just plain cruel. You've got all these little fishing hooks implanted under our skins with not even the Core book out, and then you gentle tug at them with this taunting half-whisper of supplements!

In point of fact I already have enough supplemental material to last for along time. Years likely in terms of publishing. There are some of these that I'll be posting on the Wiki site for free simply on the basis that they don't quite warrantt the costs of full publication. But I'm always hinting at supplements here and there not only to generate interest, but to let you guys know that there are things in the works and what they are. Guaging response is a large part of marketing ;)

I'm still looking forward to the Razors though... definitely.

Defilers are not actually considered a playable race under the core rules...the races are the Asana-Lea, Oraki, Silana and Lirie-Kana (humans)...Though with the Seven13 rules and the information given about the defilers in the book a GM could easily translate them out for a campaign if the characters wished to play the forces of the Dark. Demons are tricky though just based on the concept of the CoE theology: a demon is a timeless, indestructible creature that, even if destroyed on the physical plane, is merely returned to the Deep. Many return with their memories intact. For this reason and their level of power I don't really consider them good PCs unless the campaign deals directly with the players as servants of teh Dark.

As for Razors, they are very cool. Raze is the newest branch of power to enter 7/13, Avatars and Ethromancers have been around in various incarnations since about '00 or so. Razors came about from a conversation I had about the difference in casting method between a kid and Gandalf/Tellah/Aged Mage. While the elder would consider cause and effect and tailor a Casting/Spell to fit a specific purpose or need in arefined form, a child with the same power would simply operate it on need alone, fueled more often than not by raw emotion. Raze is more limited than Ethromancy but provides extreme potency to the wielder. [/quote]

Awww... but they look so amazingly awesome... But I guess I'll just have to live with Razors. The way they operate sounds very interesting.

Howdy. My name's Shaun.

I'm one of the artists who worked on the book. My favorite race in 7/13 are the Asa. (Followed closely by the Oraki, damn fun to draw.) Though I think I resemble more of a plague bearer in real life. With more hair.

Never really roleplayed much in the tabletop sense, unless you count on the consoles, which I'm an avid fan of. PS2 in particular. :D But I do love drawing me some crazy monsters n' demons n' half-naked women, which 7/13 seems to have no shortage of. (Hooray! ) So I've been on board since Ashe picked me up from my DA site.

I'm 19, played tabletop games for about 7 years i think - haven't been able to play so much recently though.
umm... on deviantart, obviously, but don't worry about checking out my site 'cause its crap ;)
Also been RPing on a free-form online text based RPG called Ashenshire for a while now.

so yeah, all this S13 art popping up on Deviantart had me intrigued, so when Endling put up a link in his journal, i came wandering in :D....

When I'm not working lately i'm either with the kids or on WoW (Wildhammer server if any of you play).

.

I play on the Wildhammer server too (but the European one).

Christopher Ashe
23rd August 2008, 04:18 PM
Well actually I don't really play WoW much anymore - I'm back in college these days and don't have all that much time for video games. When I do play lately it's been either Call of Duty 4 or Age of Conan - 'cause really you can't beat glorious violence and half-naked women ;)

Elune
23rd August 2008, 05:01 PM
I am beginning to lose interest in WoW myself actually.

My pc could handle COD 1, and refused to even look at COD 2, so I haven't tried the others in the series.
I plan to upgrade in the very near future (finally-almost taken as long as the_painter to upgrade!).

I have not had a look at Conan either- heard mixed reports of it so far. Is there a free trial for Conan? I do like to try before buying-games are expensive in the UK.

DDO was very dissapointing - I would have loved to have played through somewhere like Greyhawk, and all the old official modules.

Christopher Ashe
1st September 2008, 11:08 PM
I was quite disappointed in DDO as well - honestly it couldn't stand up at all to a lot of the player-created worlds on Neverwinter Nights.

I don't know that they have a free trial for Age of Conan yet. As of now there are plenty of bugs and there's a lot of content still in production (only 3 months since release). It's main angle is seriously nasty PvP and ultra-violence. If I were you I might give it another month or two for a couple mroe patches and maybe more info on the Directx10 version/upgrade. All-in-all though it's amazingly vicious and playing it is more than point in click: some combat knowledge will actually serve you. I'm in love with the game, bugs or no.

Elune
2nd September 2008, 05:34 AM
Hmm PVP is one aspect of all these games which does not appeal at all, to be honest. The only time I enjoyed pvp was in the 200 player Christmas snowball fights in knight Online.

In WoW I have been ganked too many times by characters 20+ levels higher than me to enjoy pvp.

WoW suffers from many pvp related problems - such as the constant attacks on various settlements such as The Crossroads by the opposing faction which achieve nothing but lower level characters from handing in quests as the quest givers are invariably dead for several hours .
The problem I have with these attacks is that they are without real reason , and there is no reward for success.

I would be quite happy for these settlements to be capturable - then the npc's there would become friendly or (neutral at least ) to their new masters, the flight point unusable by the previous faction etc. Of course, the new masters would have to maintain a presence there constantly, or the settlement would revert back to the previous faction, and they would no doubt have to defend their new settlement from the opposite faction who would undoubtedly try to recapture their former settlement.
