Was playing seven13 the other nite when situation came up where we we going to question someone. So the plan was l was to go to guys door and the other 3 charature who had been made invisable by our Elune were to follow me in when l got inside. Everything was going ok till once inside there was a girl there that sceam when seeing her boyfriend jumped on. Elune cast something to shut her up but she began to run round like a lemming. I decided to use zama {comand} and order her to sleep but the git of the gm made rolls for the other two players and knocked them out instead leaving me and a npc to deal with girl and her boyfriend. So my next option was the shoot her and of corse the gun locked. Anyway after afight we got though it lets just hope the other two player don't relise it was me who knocked them out. Found this very funny when we were play. Just gose to prove l still have great luck.

Just a quick update if anyone is interested the boyfriend that l meantioned in above post looks like he could be a Shael-Khannan. Great eh and has killed and torchered one person and sent another one loopy. we have such a nice gm don't we. Only prob is charature don't have much information of the different creatures the dark have. So looks like we are in for a bit of a fight. Will update after next game tomorrow.

Alright, I admit that you do have a tiny little bit of a problem. How do you force information out a character that (nasty evil follower of the Dark that he is) seems to like pain? ….Hmmm, now why (and how?) does he like pain?

As a point of interest, exactly what dire situation did you get into that required the use of a Spirit Point ... if it's not too complex to explain? On the first day of play too ... ha! ... and my players accuse me of being nasty :confused:

Hmmm! Just re-read this post and realised that this could be seen as a criticism. It's definitely not meant that way; it was simply supposed to be a clarification!

As players you've all simply been given far too much information in far too short a space of time and it cannot help but be confusing (how did that occur? :)). Unfortunately, some things will simply get missed or misunderstood in the sheer morass of information that I sometimes throw at you … and there again, maybe I didn’t actually tell you that Shael-Khannan are always female! :confused:

On the other hand, maybe this is an attempt to mislead you ;) Maybe there are male Shael-Khannan? :eek:

Right ok l was wrong about the Shael-Khannan being the guy we had to question but he did belanog to a cult who wershiped Narsheakh Mal-Khannan. we got the information we kneed for him. Made him think l was insane and he was scared after Elune removed the gift he had been given from Narsheakh Mal- Khannan something in his head that made pain pleasure. He was also impressed dy my totem. ( cuddle maru called Spot) and somehow he managed to get his neck court on the blade of my rio.:oops:

You have my sympathy. I know how difficult it can be to find and/or maintain a group over an extended period. We may have a stable group at the moment, but there have been significant periods when the group fell apart before it reformed again with new members, so we went through significant periods without gaming ... shudder!!!

Never played Iron Heroes; don't really know much about it. It's a d20 system with a fantasy background that concentrates on melee combat isn't it? And that exhausts my knowledge; assuming it's correct?

At any rate I'm glad you enjoyed your Iron Heroes game even if it is over now!

;DMy self ive been looking for a group in denton but ive been playing dnd in lewisville tx up the road from denton or down the road give or take 15miles but denton seems to be rather dry in the rpg department if you know of any areas in town that would be great and as for iron heros it is indeed what you said and my characters exploits are very interesting at best and odd at worst for example a keebler size elf with delusional paranoia a stick against humans and beleving himself to be a noble and sticky fingers to boot but i thankfully grew out of @#$hole noob player phase but then again trying to be prepaired for anything in game is a unique trait i have at least by palying either rouges or the thief class from iron heros or a scout type character

Hmmm! I had noticed your thread about playing/organising a game in the Denton area. I had however assumed, after a bit of research (i.e. Google!) that you meant Denton Texas, as has now been confirmed by your last post, and so didn't bother replying to it. Unfortunately, while we have a Denton, it's not in Texas, it's in England! Perhaps a bit too far to go for a game :(

I understand odd! Remind me to tell you about a Star Trek character I once played (Ed Koughman by name) who in his idle moments as a Bridge Officer was merrily engaged in knitting a jumper for the Romulan Praetor! And in many ways that was the least of his foibles! ;)

At any rate it sounds like you had fun with your character and that's the important thing.

I can only hope that someone closer to (your) home can help you find/organise a game and that you can enjoy yourself as much playing 7/13 as you evidently did playing Iron Heroes. CoE is a lovely little background and it is well worth playing :)

As for being on the wrong continent (North America as opposed to Europe)? Why should we let a little thing like the 4500+ miles and a return flight cost of $2000 or so (I'm sure we can get it cheaper!) stop anything :) They say that commuting is getting easier and cheaper all the time. After all, what's an 11 hour flight between friends - each way! :( Unfortunately until someone invents teleportation (or something like that) the distance is a bit of an insurmountable problem!

That said, absolutely no reason we cannot keep in touch on the forum and exchange stories when you finally get a game off the ground in Denton, Texas!

As for the Denton in the UK? Well as far as I know there isn't actually a city of Denton in the UK. I should really have been clearer; the Denton near to us is actually a region within a city!

West Denton is a suburb of my city Newcastle (known locally as "the Toon"), on the west side.
Oh just had a proper look and we have a Denton too, made up of West Denton and Chapel Park, home to about 11000 people).

A few years ago our Vampire the Masquerade rpg (also ran by The painter and in which I also never got a fair crack of the whip :p ) took place in our city, which was good, as we knew the landmarks :)

We had discussed setting our cycle of existence game in the UK as we have a a lot more knowledge of our history and myths & legends, but finally settled on the USA .

For the record, the group make up is as follows:

Lea Luna usually called 'Lunnie' - aka Scarlet (originally a sort of secret identity that now known)

Race: Asana-Lea
Sex: Female

Elune Clearwater usually called 'L'

Race: Silana

Joseph Harkness usually called 'Jay' (sometimes referred to on the forum as the 'NPC' as unfortunately he cannot always make all of the sessions)

The three player characters were all raised by their individual parents (now sadly deceased ... sorry!!!) but in a sort of extended family arrangement, hence the three PC's tend to regard each other as brother and sister(s). The intention being to give the group a reason to stay together and to look out for each other. It's worked so far....

As for the friction between the group members, well, as you suggest, it will most likely work itself out over time… either that or Lunnie and Elune will end up killing each other :) Truly the Dark works in mysterious ways ;)

Hopefully the family aspect will be enough to get them through their troubles ... that and the common enemies trying to kill them anyway! It may be just me, but sometimes, I almost suspect that Lunnie and Elune actually like to argue!

Don't worry about it no offence taken.
MMMM.... BIGFOOT never really thought about it. Only come across a couple of mosters in the game the painter used darklings in our 3rd or 4th game and they weren't very nice. There's the chance their shal-khan going round in the game at present. But l surpose anthing is possible. So chould see bigfoot or a monster close to it liveing somewhere in the cycle.

like i said im playing the partys healer its bad ive taken some exaulted feats as well im going for saint hopeing ill get but what i mean for it being bad is the fact i have offensisve capabilites what so ever saturday night for example im trying to protect some drow that was reformed and were being attacked by some spider eaters in a vain attempt at our defence ive splashed a flask of oil on myself as well the spider eaters and emulating us with alchimalecal fire to fry them to a crisp it worked killed two of them that way thank goodness for improvisation right then put us out as fast as posible and started up my mad healing skills like 3d8 + 39 with cure serious at 5th level;D

Sounds like an interesting life. Unfortunately the d20(?) system is one that I'm just about totally ignorant about; either way it sounds like you're enjoying yourself, if somewhat frustrated, so have a ball.

I generally play background type characters myself (techs/engineers, scientists, cowards :)), far too much chance of dying by being a hero for my taste! I have played stupidly heroic characters in my time, but tend to prefer characters with a healthy respect for their own mortality :)

As for being a male player playing a female character, well, personally I tend to stay away from it. The main reason for doing so is that I've never really managed to get a grasp about what it takes to play a female! Far too alien a mindset for my tastes :) I have played a female character, exactly once! I even did a semi-decent job of it (I think?), but I just didn't really know what made her female, so I've respect for those who can do it. Keep up the good work!

Sainthood is a class? It's an interesting possibility anyway! Should be really frustrating :)

Well the update is an indefinite thing. There's a lot that's happened since CoE came out and it's still sadly a fledgling game - out of 1,500 copies I've maybe sold 200...maybe. Other than that I went from living alone to living full time with two kids as a single parent. I work on stuff for seven13 a lot actually, I just haven't put anything solid together yet and I'm not sure when I will more lately. I'll get there though.

I am however extremely surprised by the sales figures! The game definitely deserves significantly more attention!

I know that our particular group purchased three copies of the game. I also know that there were at least two other copies available for sale in the Newcastle area ... and that they disappeared too! Personally, I wouldn't mind owning a second copy of the game; it would be nice to have a copy to lie in pristine condition on my book shelf. Hell, I could even afford to do this at the price the game originally sold at. For me, the low selling price of the rules, relative to other new games, was a major selling point. It encouraged me to try a game that I was totally unfamiliar with! Unfortunately, there aren't any copies currently available in my local area, or anywhere else in the UK as far as I can tell :( That said, I'm not in any particularly hurry to acquire that second copy, I'll wait until one eventually turns up as a restock ... at least I hope there will be a restock!

We have managed to bump off one of the bad guy but in return the painter injured my best friend. Makeing the charature fell really guilty and before you say it Elune l know it was all my fault.

Nope, wasn't really your fault; it was that nasty GM that you have :) he saw an opportunity and took it. Admittedly, you had to provide the correct set of circumstances for Dan to get hurt, but it's still the GM's fault! Personally I don't know why he did it as you all have more than enough problems as it is; just pure evil I suppose!

The question you have to ask yourself is why are all these nasty things happening to you, and only (relatively) nice things happening to Elune? I mean, she can't even get herself arrested at the moment :) There are reasons; the reason may not always (or ever!) be apparent, but there are reasons ... cue evil cackle of laughter ... hahahahahahaha...snigger, snort, hehehehehe...the POWER, hehehehehehehe!!!

You set up a perfectly reasonable little ambush for your players, and it comes off (almost!) perfectly. Then you set up a lovely little 'evil villains torture the poor innocent players' scenario while blocking off the players access to their etheric powers, but being the nice, friendly, harmless, fair minded, good looking and helpful GM that you are, you still allow your players a roll to try and access their powers!

Three guesses what our resident razor manages to roll? That's right, a perfect 00! Damn her!!! The only roll that would actually permit her to access her powers through the block ... damn dice! It's not fair ... pouts!!! Who invented dice rolling anyway? :( Silly idea!!!

Ah well, all is not lost yet ... go to fall-back plan 71c :)


PS: I hope that no one objects to the use of the word 'damn'. Personally I can't see the harm in its use, but if it's not acceptable forum use than please accept my apologies and feel free to edit it (or the whole post) out!

Oh, I feel your pain. Except it's reversed, as I'm the player. First time was the GM rolling for two NPC's and one of our allies dying horribly, followed by the beginning of the 13th hour, then second was my dice failing my character getting cast into the twelve towers :( Now he's evil...

Now Luunie only managed to get that 00 because I taunted her about what uncaring parents she had.
Did I get a word of thanks for making her so angry her powers kicked in? No.
Will she, like you suggested, attack me rather than the bad guys? Probably, she already slapped me earlier, remember (for NO reason).

Now of course whilst I am still tied up, suffering yet another case of etherburn, and unable to use ethromancy, she will summon a golem and attack Paul Ray (the bad guy), depriving me of some honour-restoring vengance (again). :)

I think my 00 was very fair painter as you rolled a 00 against me a couple of seasons ago and made my golem protect the bad guy.

Well things haven't got any better in game with luck but the bad luck has seemed to pass onto Jay {the npc}. We were being held prisoner by these 3 bad guys mentioned by the painter in one of the previous posts and yes l rolled 00 which was used to sumon my golem and he got rid of 1 of our captors and jays dead sister turns up and kills other 2. {think she to shael-khannan l mentioned at start of this post but hasn't been proven yet} So the bad guys are dead but we are stuck in underground complex with sleeping darkling just along coridor cutting a long story short we get out with help also our power are being blocked. When we get to surface Jay is so mad and his powers kick in {hes a razor like myself} we hear chanting we got towards this and come up to a pair of double doors. Jay blasts the doors and asks me to pull a golem. As we aproach the doors we see a cathorlic church service being help and Jay has just injuryed half of them.oops:eek:

we left rather quickly after that. Now the painter has the fbi looking for us.:cry:

So guess Lunnie, L and Jay will be trying prison food soon. Don't know how we are going to get out of this one.

For those of you not involved in our campaign here an update on whats happened in last couple of games.

Elune still hasn't got it on with the sheriff properly yet!{wish theyed just get on with it}.

The fbi l meantioned in a couple of post ago were mage hunters we were taken in but cutting a long story short escaped. So now we are on the run from them as well.

Before all that thought we found a scroll basically say we 3 are surpost to stop the end of the world.{thats how we tranlated it anyway}:confused:

As for missing things, well, you probably missed less than you think, although I've had fun recently getting my group to role play their characters role playing. I had them go to a Renaissance Faire and one of them (Elune) had to dress up and fight a duel as a medieval character :) She lost :(

Elune (the Silana) even got to show off her ears in pubic ... isn't it amazing how good fake ears are these days! As for Lunnie the Asa, well, she met two other Asa ... argggggggggh! What do you call a group of Asa ... a NOISE!!! :)

First of all, my apologies for taking so long to reply to your post; for some reason I just didn't notice it ... I've no idea why?

I'm also very sorry to hear about the asthma attack(s). One of my friend's wife is prone to suffering asthma attacks (thankfully not too serious) and so I have some limited understanding of how bad they can be. Hopefully you're reasonably alright now? I'm sure the new job didn't help matters either!

As for the Noise of Asa bit, well, when the three Asa got together the level of noise generated did seem to rise quite dramatically ... almost logarithmically, and so it seemed appropriate! :)

As for your boxing glove idea ... please don't give Lunnie ideas. She doesn't need them! :)

Well, that's become a bit academic now, hasn't it? :)

As for not allowing the character's personal lives to influence the game, well, it would be nice, but it's not really going to happen is it? The two are inextricably linked and the best that can be hoped for is that the personal lives of the characters do not interfere too much in the story development!

It's often very hard to get the mix of the two (character personal life and story development) right, and allowances often need be made in both directions. I know that as a player, I sometimes had to say, 'I don't really want to do this, but if it will make the game easier' or 'if I do this it will create problems for x, and so despite the fact that it's what my character should do, I'll avoid it'. Neither are the best of circumstances, but sometimes if it's the best for the game and the other characters in the game... Ah, well!

There may be a great deal of truth in that Elune; at least there may be once Tara has accepted the pairing ... but initially, she's likely to be quite shocked, and even possibly hurt by it. She may even react quite negatively to the idea, and may need some time to adjust to the relationship before she sees the wisdom (and the love!) of the match.

Actually, a large part of how Tara is likely to react will probably depend on how she learns about the relationship! Between you and me, she's not totally blind, and she may already be seeing something between her father and Elune, but if she is, she's definitely in denial about it! This could actually be a good thing, as it gives Tara a chance to accept the relationship on a subconscious level before she has to deal with it consciously!

On the other hand (as I suggested in my previous post), Tara may just surprise us all in how accepting she is. After all, as you point out, she does want what's best for her father (not to mention her best friend!), and if they really do love each other!

There again, she might just hate you! :)

It's called role-play!!! Nothing is pre-set! Well, actually, some things are pre-set/pre-arranged, but this isn't one of them! :)

I know perfectly well Lunnie's reasons for talking to Simon Vail/Mary Anson. However, actions like that (i.e. omissions) are always a matter of opinion; what one character/player would do another wouldn't, and what one character/player sees as a smart move another sees as a betrayal. It's what characterisation is all about :) On the other hand, not telling people things/actions is one of the best ways of, if not quite outright lying then certainly misleading! :)

All you did! Telling them what was going on within the good guy's camp was supposed to be one of your main functions; at least as far as they (Mary Anson, et al) saw it. Therefore, as they see it, you failed, and in a fairly major way!

Liang Xian-Yu was actually a very important member of the Dark (although his status was not really apparent to the group). And, in many ways, Mary Anson is seen as responsible for his loss, as she (supposedly) had access to a means of warning of an attack on him i.e. a spy (you, Lunnie!). As the Dark see it, Mary Anson should have known about the attack, and should have warned Liang Xian-Yu about it (why didn't she?). Effectively, she's getting a lot of flak because of her failure to warn him and so is passing some of the grief along to you.

Poor Lunnie ... getting shouted at! :) Did you expect the Dark to all sweetness and light? :)

PS: Actually, the Liang Xian-Yu situation is not quite over yet, but that remains in the future!

On the other hand, the comment may just not have sunk in yet. While on the third hand (how many hands does this man have?), maybe they are having a teensy little bit of difficulty in believing what Lunnie says at the moment. I cannot speak for them ... It is obvious to everyone except Luunie that Seb is, among other things, using her to gain access to the Tor - Luunie chooses not to see that though.

Lunnie & Elune: In relation to the last girl killed: well, between you and me she wasn't really an innocent ... although admittedly, she was an innocent victim! :(

Elune: Maybe Seb does want access to the Tor, maybe he doesn't, but either way you are (probably?) missing one very important point: he could (probably/possibly) force Lunnie to bond him to the Tor, if he wished to do so!

Elune you have forgotten something from last game it was Lunnie that told Seb she wouldn't bond him to the tor. Yes when she spoke to you and Jay the npc she blamed you but if l really thought it would have helped us l would have done it anyway. What happening with Lunnie at moment is not going to affect the fight we have ahead it is Lunnie's problem and she will deal with it herself in her own way. She wants to know as much as she can find out about lilim and the only true source she knows even if he lies is Seb. Just leave her to it if you try and stop her she will rebel against you as she feels you are trying to control her and yes this dose need doing sometimes.:p

I'm not going to argue that one. Lunnie would definitely rebel if pushed; hell, she rebels even when no one is trying to control her ... she is an Asa after all! :)

Yes you got away with it the first time but it was the second time that got to her l know you can't help how my charature takes things but in my mind Lunnie is already feeling guilty so takeing what you said wrongly was my fault. If you really cared you know she has the funeral the next day and you know she is already upset about things you should have thought what you were say whichever way you said it!:mad:
