Terry Pratchett.
If you haven't read one of his books already, I strongly recommend you do so.
Terry Pratchett is a god among ants in the satirical epic. Well. Hard pressed to say epic, as his books deal with epic issues in very down to earth terms.
The Discworld series follows a number of different protagonist groupings. Like.. there is no one hero. Typically people end up liking one group over the others.. as do I. And in my personal opinion, his witch characters are some of the most insightful, refreshing people I've ever met, so to speak.
Highly recommended reading being:
-Reaper Man (my favorite of his books, a story about Death)
-Small Gods (religious satire, my bread and butter..)
-All the witch series (Equal Rites, Wyrd Sisters, Witches Abroad, Maskerade, Carpe Jugulum, Lords and Ladies..)
It seems I can't talk at length anymore without losing my ability to make coherent thought into legible reading.. so I'm gonna cut myself short here.
Read the damn books. At least one. You won't regret it.
